The Bank of us Visa Credit Card

Combining a low annual fee with a low purchase rate, the Bank of us Visa Credit Card offers cardholders the opportunity to keep costs low while enjoying access to credit. As a no frills card, it doesn’t waste time on complex rewards programs or expensive features, instead it simply allows you to pay with credit, to then benefit from up to 58 days interest free on purchases.

What we love...

As a low cost card, the Bank of us Visa Credit Card offers one low rate on purchases, cash advances and balance transfers. Having one low rate not only makes it easier for you to get your head around what this card will cost you day-to-day, it could also help you to save a significant amount in interest if you were to switch from a card with a higher rate.

You see, Bank of us is a customer-owned bank. Unlike bigger banks, which pay out profits to shareholders, it can re-invest its profits back into the organisation, benefitting customers by providing them better rates and lower fees. This is why you will usually find customer-owned banks tend to offer lower rates than bigger banks, even on supposedly low rate products.

Should you choose Bank of us over a bigger bank? While there are pros and cons to each option, it’s worth bearing in mind that while bigger banks are obviously better known, smaller banks such as Bank of us face the same rules and regulations as authorised deposit-taking institutions. So, if you are thinking of choosing Bank of us as your card provider, it may be a better idea to look to the service, support and features it offers, rather than whether you have heard of the bank before.

Quite obviously, this offering from Bank of us is simple. Most low rate cards are. To keep costs low, providers cut back on features. But, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. For many cardholders, simple is better, simple is all they need. Aside from its low rate, the card also offers a low annual fee, providing an opportunity to save even more money.

Aside from that, the card offers up to 58 days interest free on purchases. That means, if you clear your balance by the due date each month, you will have up to 58 days before interest starts accruing on your purchase. This is longer than most cards on the market, and can provide a great way to cover day-to-day spending using your card, without having to pay interest for the privilege.

What’s not so great...

You’ve already heard us say the Bank of us Visa Credit Card is simple. That means you won’t earn rewards on your card spending, and you won’t benefit from fancy features such as access to airport lounges or hotel upgrades when you travel, or a concierge service to help you when you need to make a restaurant reservation. If you want that stuff, look elsewhere.

Why should you choose this card?

What this card does offer is simplicity and money-saving. If you want a basic card that keeps it real, the Bank of us Visa Credit Card could be for you. If you want to save on interest, this could be the card that makes that happen. Often a great choice for cardholders who carry a balance month to month, or who simply don’t see the point in paying hundreds of dollars in annual fees for features they don’t need, this type of card has plenty to offer the right type of person.

Overall Rating

A simple card that keeps it real, the Bank of us Visa Credit Card has one low rate on purchases, cash advances and balance transfers, with a low annual fee and up to 58 days interest free on purchases.

Hi Kerrie, there is no guidance provided by the bank on this. I would assume at least 15k in income. Though reach out to the bank to see if they can provide you with a specific number.

Hi Sonia, I am not sure that this is a service directly from B&E but you certainly could pay your bills with your card, then pay that off each month.
