The Bankwest More Credit Card

With a focus on rewards, this card keeps it fairly simple in terms of extras, offering standard security features and 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months.

What we love...

With the Bankwest More Credit Card, you can earn points on Bankwest’s own rewards program, More Rewards. Allowing you to earn on everyday spending, the card provides an earn rate of 1.5 More Rewards points per $1 spent on eligible purchases.

While there is a lot to like about Bankwest’s rewards program, there are few things cardholders should know before they apply.

Firstly, the total earn on this card is capped at 150,000 points per year. Secondly, you will only be credited with More Rewards points once you have spent at least $1,500 on eligible purchases, and your account has been opened for at least two months.

So, what does all that mean? To understand the value of the points you earn, you have to know what they can offer you. The More Rewards program is much like many of the other bank’s rewards programs, in that they allow cardholders to redeem points for travel, merchandise and gift cards.

By visiting the More Rewards online store, cardholders can redeem their points for anything from baby stuff and tech, to fitness gear and gourmet treats. Love travel? You can also redeem your points at Webjet.

Point calculations are accurate but may be subject to change without notice. All routes may have additional taxes and charges.

What’s not so great...

As is so often the case with rewards cards, the Bankwest More Credit Card has a fairly high purchase rate. That means, to make the most of the rewards on offer, it’s best to clear the balance each month by the due date. This also allows you to take advantage of up to 44 days interest free on purchases. Not the longest interest free period, but helpful nonetheless.

Why should you choose this card?

If you’re looking for a simple rewards card, the Bankwest More Credit Card could be a good option. With its focus on rewards, it doesn’t overcomplicate things with too many extras, which may work well for some cardholders. Its earn rate is decent, providing rewards for cardholders who are perhaps not the biggest of spenders.

It’s worth noting that the card does offer 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months with a 1% balance transfer fee. However, rewards and balance transfers don’t sit that well together. If you have a balance transfer, it’s a good idea to concentrate on paying it off, rather than spending to earn rewards, and potentially creating more debt.

Overall Rating

As a basic rewards card, the Bankwest More Credit Card focuses on providing rewards, while keeping it simple elsewhere. The card also offers 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months.

You get 0% purchase for 6 months and bonus points - great intro offers for me. There's also a balance transfer offer but I didn't use that. You can earn points easily and get some good rewards back. Annual fee nice and low. This card gives you more. Haha.

I chose the Bankwest More for the signup offers 0% on purchases for 6 months and the 2500 bonus points. I didntneed the balance transfers. So far found that its pretty good for earning points, and from looking at what I can redeem, I'm happy.

Hi Bryan, expiry dates from the banks will vary and will depend on when they are issued. Typically you should have an expiry date or 2-3 years.

I have a Bankwest More credit mastercard and have paid for an overseas trip using this card. I notice this card has no travel insurance cover. Can I change to a platinum or other card offering this insurance to cover this already paid trip?

Hi Robert, I dont believe you would be able to as you have already paid for the trip. To activate travel insurance you will need to put some prepaid travel expenses on the card. I would speak to Bankwest credit card customer service and see what they can offer.
