The BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card

Want to earn rewards on your business spending? A business rewards card could be right up your alley! Offering a selection of very usable features, the BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card is a business rewards card that allows cardholders to earn and redeem points on either the Amplify Rewards program or the Amplify Qantas program. Is it for you? Let’s find out.

What we love...

One of the things we love most about the BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card is its annual fee which is lower compared to some other business rewards cards. Currently, it offers a $0 annual card fee for the first year to newly approved cards.

Now, on to the rewards. As a rewards credit card, one of the most attractive features this card has for some cardholders is its rewards program. Luckily, it has two to choose from, with uncapped points on offer.

The Amplify Rewards program lets you earn 2 points per $1 spent on overseas purchases, 1 point per $1 spent on purchases within Australia, and 0.5 points per $1 spent on government payments.

If you opt for the Amplify Rewards program, you could redeem your points for rewards from a wide range of products including appliances, gift cards, charitable donations, entertainment expenses and more. You could also use your points on both domestic and international flights of major airlines or redeem for airline points or miles through Virgin Australia's Velocity program, Malaysia Airlines' Enrich program and Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer program. Plus enjoy other travel perks such as holiday packages, accommodation and car hire via Amplify Travel.

If you prefer to fly Qantas, you may want to opt for the Amplify Qantas program, where you could earn 1 point per $1 spent on overseas purchases, 0.5 points per $1 spent on purchases within Australia, and 0.25 points per $1 spent on government payments.

The points you earn could be redeemed for Classic Award flights with Qantas or one of its 35 partner airlines, or on more than 3,000 products, experiences and vouchers from within the Qantas Store. You could also use your points on Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Award flights or on available upgrades with Qantas flights.

What’s not so great...

While there’s a lot to like about the BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card, there are also some points to pay attention to. For example, this is not a low rate card. With its relatively high rate of interest on purchases, it’s best to avoid interest payments altogether by clearing the balance each month.

In addition, if you decide to earn on the Amplify Qantas program, you may want to compare this card’s earn rate with other Qantas rewards cards on the market. You may find the earn rate on the BankSA Amplify Business Credit Card is lower than you would like.

Why should you choose this card?

Want to know more before making up your mind? Check out these features before making a decision. The card offers two complimentary insurances: transit accident insurance and unauthorised transaction insurance.

As a personal liability credit card, it also provides up to three additional cardholders, as well as simplified tax reporting, with the ability to export expenses directly to MYOB and BAS, or download as an Excel file to make analysis of business transactions simple.

Overall Rating

A convenient business rewards card offering the choice of two rewards programs, useful tools and features, and introductory offers that include $0 annual fee for the first year.

Concerning your Amplify Business credit card's international travel insurance: 1) Does it cover for Covid-19 problems? 2) Does it cover cruising in cruise ships? 3) We paid for our cruise already, but if we use your credit card to pay for tours. Will your insurance cover our entire holiday? 4) Does it cover holiday cancellation costs? 5) Please email me back a copy of the relevant PDF on the policy. Thank you, Ron

Hi Ron, the Amplify Business Rewards card is designed for business use, so just make sure it’s the right card for you before you apply. You’ll need to show you’re using it predominantly for business use and submit your ABN, ACN, ARBN or ARSN when you apply. I looked into the insurance and it seems BankSA has changed its coverage and this card now only comes with unauthorised transaction insurance and overseas transit insurance (which it states doesn’t cover cruises). You can take a look at all cards that have complimentary travel insurance here and sort them by features like fees or rewards to find one that ticks a few boxes, then look into the PDS of the card to make sure it covers your trip. Check the eligibility criteria for you and any travelling companions; it changes between credit card brands, so it pays to look into each one. Best of luck!

Hi Kimberly, I am not completely sure what you are wanting to achieve. For balance transfers, you can transfer current credit card debt to another offer. Therefore you would need to get a credit card first.
