A high-flying airport lounge experience, anytime.

LoungeKey is a credit card perk that turns tedious airport travel into something with pizzazz. Regardless of your fare type or which airline you fly with, you can stop in for complimentary refreshments and comfortable seating while you wait. Many cards allow a free guest, too.

How to use your LoungeKey membership

Unlike most lounge memberships, you don’t need to carry another piece of plastic; just show your credit card at the lounge check-in desk. You might also need to show your boarding pass and a valid ID.

LoungeKey airport lounges are located at over 500 airports worldwide. Most credit cards offer complimentary lounge passes for a guest, but you’ll need to check your credit card’s terms to find out how many guests are invited and if extra charges apply to children.

What you’ll find in airport lounges

There can be huge variations in the types of facilities you’ll find at airport lounges. But, to give you an idea, airport lounges can include:

  • Free WiFi
  • Comfortable seating
  • Complimentary drinks and snacks
  • Power outlets and charging stations
  • Bathroom facilities (some have showers)
  • Alcoholic beverages (charges typically apply)
  • Desks or meeting rooms

You may also be able to use LoungeKey for deals or cashback at airport businesses. Participating restaurants and retailers offer discounts when you use your credit card to pay, which is applied automatically at checkout. Always check the LoungeKey app though; sometimes you’ll need to use a QR code to access your discount.

Using the LoungeKey app

The free LoungeKey app lists all eligible airport lounges, the closest gate number, and gives easy directions so you can find your way there. You can browse the facilities on offer, opening hours and keep track of your favourite or frequently-used lounges. The app will also tell you of any extra costs, such as a fee for extra guests, or any restrictions or dress codes in place.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can use your credit card details to log in and create a new account. You’ll need to know your 16-digit card number and expiry date. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to use the app offline so you can avoid international roaming charges.

Where are airport lounges located?

Lounges can be found before you go through the security check, or after (where you wait to board your plane). Typically you’ll find lounges in Departures and Arrivals. Where you choose to wait is up to you and whether you’re waiting for your flight or waiting for a lift from the airport. Some airports have multiple LoungeKey locations for you to use in different terminals.

Does the Commbank Ultimate Awards credit card give me access to all lounge key lounges across the world? If so, is it complimentary access or would there be an entry fee (if there is still an entry fee, what’s the point of having this benefit with my card)
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

Hi Joseph, that’s an excellent question! The CommBank Ultimate Awards card does give you access to over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, but there will be a lounge visit fee charged to your card each time you visit, including for any additional guests. The LoungeKey program offers a discounted fee for CBA cardholders. Please note that the lounge access and fees may vary depending on the lounge, and some lounges may have restrictions such as capacity limits or the need for advance reservations.
