The NAB Rewards Signature Credit Card with up to 180,000 NAB Rewards bonus Points

If you want something more from your credit card, perhaps the NAB Rewards Signature Credit Card is for you. Designed to offer prestige perks, this rewards card lets you earn as you spend on NAB’s own rewards program while enjoying a number of excellent features and benefits.

NAB is currently offering a pretty sweet deal as an introductory offer, providing new cardholders with up to 180,000 NAB Rewards bonus Points to spend in almost any way you choose. You'll get 130,000 points when you spend at least $3000 in the first 60 days, and 50,000 points when you've held your card for 12 months.

* Just be aware that to be eligible for the bonus points, you can’t be an existing NAB customer who has already applied for or is currently entitled to NAB Rewards Bonus points for a new home loan or personal credit card within 18 months of applying for the NAB Rewards Platinum credit card.

NAB has also partnered with Accor, giving you the chance to convert your NAB Rewards points into Accor Live Limitless (ALL) points and redeem them for hotel stays. 6 NAB Rewards points equals 1 ALL point, which you can set up as an automatic transfer for convert manually in batches of 3000 NAB Rewards points. You can also transfer points to NAB's partner airline programs like flybuys, Velocity Frequent Flyer, KrisFlyer, Cathay Pacific and Airpoints.

Your bonus points can be converted into ALL points, too. For Signature cardholders, your 180,000 NAB Reward points will earn 30,000 ALL Reward points, which is the equivalent of AUD$1,000 towards a hotel stay (as long as you meet the bonus point criteria by spending $3,000 within 60 days of opening your account and have the card open for over 12 months). When you use your ALL points for an eligible one-night stay, you'll be fast-tracked to ALL Gold status, which gives you guaranteed room availability, room upgrades where available, early or late check-in and a welcome drink.

Giving this card even more travel perks, NAB is also waiving foreign transaction fees on overseas purchases and offering a Flight Delay Lounge Pass if your flight is delayed by more than 60 minutes at selected airports.

So, with all those perks in mind, let’s look a little closer at this prestige card to find out if it’s got what it takes to keep you happy as a cardholder.

What we love...

Before we get into anything else, we really have to talk about that introductory offer. Providing you with a nice chunk of points to get you started, the NAB Rewards Signature Credit Card is currently offering 130,000 bonus Points when you spend $3,000 on everyday purchases in the first 30 days (credited to your points balance within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria) and 50,000 bonus Points after 12 months (credited to your points balance within the 13th month).

What does 180,000 NAB Rewards bonus Points mean for you? Well, as a guide, that would equate to $880 in gift cards. If you’re not keen on gift cards, also available within the NAB Rewards Store is a range of homewares and technology as well as travel-related purchases through Webjet. Remember, you can choose to transfer your points to frequent flyer programs and Accor as well.

As for your everyday earn rate, this card allows you to earn 1.5 NAB Rewards Points per $1 spent on everyday purchases, but once you've spent $15,000 on the card in a statement period the rate drops to 0.5 points. As a bonus, you'll earn 3 points when you spend with Webjet. You can buy any seat on any airline at any time.

And, while it may not be the big headliner here, there is a balance transfer offer available as well. If you want to pay down existing credit card debt, you could transfer it to the NAB Rewards Signature Credit Card to benefit from 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 12 months with a 3% balance transfer fee.

⚠ NAB allows transfers from most non-NAB cards, but also lists several brands that aren’t compatible with its transfer process. These include Bendigo Bank, ING, Latitude Finance, Great Southern Bank, Heritage Bank, Adelaide Bank, credit unions and Amex.

Adding more to the awesome offers of this card is the potential to waive the monthly fee. If you spend $5000 or more in a statement period, your monthly fee is reversed. That's a great perk if you think you'll spend more than the minimum each month.

What’s not so great...

What should you know before you apply for the NAB Rewards Signature Credit Card? Well, as you would expect from a prestige card, there is high minimum credit limit of $15,000 and relatively high interest rate on purchases and cash advances.

You'll get the most value out of this card by paying the off the full balance each month and avoiding interest charges.

What’s also also worth bearing in mind is that once the 0% p.a. balance transfer period ends, you'll be charged the variable cash advance rate of 21.74% p.a., so it's best to try to pay off the balance transfer before the 12 months is up.

Why should you choose this card?

If you love the bonus Points on offer and the earn rate available, you may be interested in some of the other features this card could provide. With the NAB Concierge Service, you have your own personal assistant available 24/7 for travel and lifestyle services.

On top of that, you have a raft of complimentary insurances covering you, including domestic and international travel insurances, rental vehicle excess cover in Australia, and mobile phone insurance. You'll also get purchase protection insurance and extended warranty insurance .

What is the definition of "eligible purchases " for the NAB Rewards Signature card ?
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

    Pauline

    5 September 2024
Hi Neil, eligible purchase refers to any purchase made using your card. However, NAB says it excludes Balance Transfers, Cash-Like Transactions, Convenience Cheques, Cash Advances, interest charges, account payments, credit adjustments, and fees.

Why did NAB remove complimentary priority pass airport lounges for NAB Signature rewards card ?

Hi Hadrian, we’re not quite sure why this could have been removed sorry. You can reach out to NAB directly to find out more. Alternatively, NAB offer the DragonPass Airport Lounge for sale in the NAB rewards shop. It costs ~15,000 points to get in. Hope that helps!

The bonus points (up to 140 000) are only accessible in the first year. Is this correct.
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

Hi Allan! Sort of - with this card, you get 100k points in the first 2 months (if you spend $3000 on regular items) but then you also get another 40k points if you keep the card longer than 12 months (meaning you have to renew it for a second year). So, essentially you’re getting two lots of bonus points over 2 years. I hope that clears it up! Thanks Allan.

Hello Pauline My husband and I are looking at using a credit card for everyday use, so we want to get the most from it by having a rewards / points attached to the card. The balance would be paid out every month. we just aren’t sure on what would be the best card – I was looking at the NAB rewards signature only because we have NAB accounts. The only loans we have apart from everyday expenses is a house mortgage. Can you recommend any other cards for us to look at? Thanks

Hi Tanya, there sure are plenty of different rewards cards to choose from and sometimes going with who you bank with will see you not get the “best” offer for you. NAB also has some exclusions around who is eligible for bonus points as I mentioned above in the review. The other thing to consider is it will also depend on the rewards scheme you sign up for and how you’ll use those points. Whether it’s for cashback, flights or household goods. See our guide to NAB Rewards for more information on this credit card program and where the points transfer to and can be used for. It’d be worth having a look at our rewards credit card comparison page to sort, filter and read our reviews to find the one that works for you. Hope that helps Tanya!

Hi Pauline I'm trying to do the maths of whether this card would be worth going for (assuming I keep the card for at least 2 years). These are my workings : First year fee : -195 Second year fee: -295 Average spend per month : $3000 -> 24 months * 1.25 points = 90,000 points Bonus for spending $3000 in first month = 100,000 points Bonus for staying into second year = 40,000 points => 230,000 points If I converted these to Flybuys, it would be $1150 dollars Taking away the card fees, I would be $660 better off ? Also, would I get additional points when swiping my Flybuys card, or would that be double counting ? Thanks in advance
    Pauline - CreditCard.com.au

Hi Graham, I love this! This is exactly how people should calculate the value of a rewards card. So yes, you can absolutely double-dip with your Flybuys card which is a great way to stack up extra points. If you're after Flybuys, another card to look at is the Coles Rewards Mastercard. Using your same numbers, you would earn 72k Flybuys on your spending each year + 50k bonus points (194k points total = $970). But, the annual fee is only $99 and you get the same features as the NAB card plus no international transaction fees (and you can still tap your Flybuys card too). Just food for thought Graham - I'm sure you'll be able to calculate the numbers and find a card that gives you the most bang for your buck! Just remember you'll need to pay off your card each month so you're not paying interest and devaluing your points. Thanks Graham!
