The St.George Amplify Business Rewards Credit Card

Getting more from your business spending can be a great feeling – and one of the easiest ways to enjoy that is with a business rewards card.

Currently offering $0 annual fee for the first year, the St.George Amplify Business Rewards Credit Card is a personal liability business credit card that rewards you for your business expenses, while offering some very handy features and extras. Is it the right choice for your business, though? Let’s find out.

What we love...

One of the first things we always look at when reviewing any credit card is its introductory offers. Happily, the St.George Amplify Business Rewards Credit Card offers $0 annual fee for the first year - that's $89 in savings.

As for ongoing appeal, this card rewards its cardholders with the choice of two excellent rewards programs. If you opt for Amplify Qantas rewards, you could earn 1 point per $1 spent on overseas purchases, 0.5 points per $1 spent on purchases within Australia, and 0.25 points per $1 spent on government payments.

Points earned on this program can be redeemed for Classic Award flights on Qantas and its 35 partner airlines, for Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Award flights, for Flight Upgrade Awards on eligible Qantas flights, or for more than 3,000 products, experiences and vouchers in the Qantas Store.

Alternatively, if you opt for the Amplify Rewards program, you could earn 2 points per $1 spent on overseas purchases, 1 point per $1 spent on purchases within Australia, and 0.5 points per $1 spent on government payments.

These points can be redeemed for domestic and international flights on a variety of major airlines, or for accommodation, holiday packages and car hire through Amplify Travel. Points can also be redeemed for appliances, gift cards, entertainment and more, or used within Malaysia Airlines' Enrich program and Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer program.

What’s not so great...

Features and rewards very rarely come for free, so it’s important to consider how much you will pay for your business rewards card to enjoy all those lovely extras. With the St.George Amplify Business Rewards Credit Card, there is a relatively high rate of interest on cash advances and purchases to think about, which will be significant if you don’t clear your balance each month.

After the first year, the annual fee is pretty reasonable for a rewards card.

Why should you choose this card?

Still weighing up your options? Aside from its introductory offers and rewards program, the St.George Amplify Business Rewards Credit Card also has a number of enticing features to help sway your decision.

These include a range of complimentary insurances, in the form of transit accident insurance and unauthorised transaction insurance, as well as up to three additional cardholders, and simplified tax reporting, with expenses exported directly into MYOB or BAS, or downloaded to Excel.

Overall Rating

An appealing business rewards card that provides a range of handy features and the choice of two rewards programs, as well as $0 annual fee for the first year.

Hi. Sourcing a CC for husband's business. When they say government payments, does that mean PAYG, BAS and Tax payments, plus Asic costs etc. Is this done via BPay when you pay a bill? Thanks.

Hi Lynda, I checked the T&Cs of this card and any transactions made via BPAY won’t earn you points. If you pay government fees with this card you’ll need to do it so that it is processed as a standard credit card transaction.
